Buca di Beppo Delivers the Goods

     When thinking of places to review for this fine publication, I mentally skipped past Buca di Beppo because it is so well known; akin to providing a review of Denny's.  But when a local happened to mention that she had never been to this stalwart of mass quantities, I was presented with the perfect opportunity to give it another visit.

     You need to have your head in the right place so that the following comments will not appear to be negative.  So let me begin by saying that my family and I love Buca di Beppo.  In fact, it has become somewhat of a family tradition.  When kicking around places to go eat, someone will start the chant:  "Booooooca . . . Boooooooca . . . Boooooooca!  This is not so subtle code meaning, "I am really hungry and want to go eat huge, Jenny-Craig-would-be-shocked, portions."  A vote is then taken, and the deciding factor is not whether everyone is in the mood for Buca di Beppo's menu selections -- we are always happy with the food -- the issue is whether you are hungry enough for the quantity of food you will be consuming.

     That is the attraction of Buca di Beppo.  It does not serve the best Italian food, but it does serve you a lot of Italian food.  Now see, that's the part that might be taken as negative, but that is not my intent.  The food at Buca di Beppo is very good, but is not in the same league as some of the other fine Italian Eateries in and around Tustin.  But those places are meant to savor.  When your need to chow down on very good Italian food outweighs your need to dine on top notch Italian food, then head to Booooooooca.
